A web geek’s round-up for watching the Super Bowl

The NFL’s Super Bowl championship football game is routinely one of the most watched televised events of the year with over 100 million viewers. But increasingly, people don’t just want to watch the game, they want to interact with it. For me, that means keeping my iPhone and iPad open while the television is on. And this year’s game will actually allow me to use both devices for more than just a distraction during the commercial interruption. With that in mind, we’ve put together a round-up of sites and services that are taking full advantage of the Super Bowl hype.

NFL to Monitor Facebook, Twitter



The Indiana-based social media company, Raidious, will run the Social Media Command Center. The group will set up in downtown Indianapolis where the company will monitor Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, YouTube and Flickr.

Employees will look for complaints and comments from users on everything from parking at the game to potential threats of terrorism.

The project will be Raidious’s biggest yet, with more than 50 employees involved in the operation. The group will look specifically at tweets to the Super Bowl host committee’s Twitter handle, posts with the hash tag #SB46 and will also be looking for 300 different keywords.

The company’s primary goal will be to monitor for moments of crisis and safety and make Super Bowl staff
