Galaxy S III rooted before release
It’s basically a tradition at this point with giant phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S III that they get hacked and rooted before they’re released into the wild with final software – and it’s no different today. Developer and hacker Chainfire has posted information on how he and his colleagues have achieved root on the Galaxy S III by working through an insecure kernel code leaked by an intrepid “insider” who he’s saying will remain nameless. Inside the code for the Galaxy S III were found some rather odd bits that only developers would find truly interesting with a few surprises that everyone will love as well.
First and foremost, Chainfire revealed that unlike the Samsung Galaxy S original, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note, and more, the Galaxy S III uses what’s called a standard boot.img format. The other devices Čítaj ďalej: http://feeds.slashgear.com/~r/slashgear/~3/Pb8clQ5t1SE/

Samsung Galaxy S III vs Galaxy Note hands-on
This week at CTIA 2012 we caught up with Ryan Bidan, Director of Product Marketing for Samsung Mobile, who was glad to provide us with a hands-on comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note, two titans for the modern Samsung smartphone line. What you’re about to see is that in addition to the obvious differences between the two like the screen size and the fact that the Galaxy Note has a pen, the Galaxy S III provides its own set of wholly unique elements that the Galaxy Note does not yet have access to. Have a peek here and see if it’s time to pick up the Note or if you’ll be better off waiting for the next-generation Galaxy smartphone.
The first of two hands-on looks we’ve got here starts with both devices Čítaj ďalej: http://feeds.slashgear.com/~r/slashgear/~3/bcPLYtYhdgk/

Flipboard app sneaks into Android unofficially
Home » Articles » Flipboard app sneaks into Android unofficially
When Samsung announced the Galaxy SIII, one of the things or apps that caught the attention many was Flipboard mobile app running on it. Flipboard in case you’re not aware is a very popular news reader app which was released for the iPad. For its Android iteration, it was mentioned that Flipboard will become available exclusive for the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Well, at least for a couple of months.
That’s not the case anymore today. If you can’t wait that long until the exclusivity to Galaxy S III expires, you can download the app right now on your Android smartphone. Thanks to the kind folks from XDA-Developers forum, the Flipboard .apk was shared and is probably enjoying tons of downloads as we speak.
Despite being unofficial, the Flipboard app runs smoothly

Throw away dog poo to get free WiFi access for mobile devices
Okay, I’m convinced. The future is now! Either that or the world is really ending in 2012. Time will tell.
DDB Mexico has recently put on a campaign for Mexican internet company Terra, which gives dog owners the opportunity to trade in bags of dog poop to an electric receptacle that will grant the dog owner access to free WiFi.The trash receptacle weighs the amount of poop you put into the container, and translates the weight into a number of minutes the owner can access the park’s local WiFi, with the network cutely embedded as dog bones that stick out of the ground.
The campaign aims to encourage dog owners walking their animals in 10 city parks in Mexico City to clean up after their animals, something many of them apparently aren’t doing. The incentive is free WiFi, which we assume people are taking advantage of on their smartphone or

UK Deal: Samsung Galaxy Note available for free on 20.50 GBP/month Vodafone contract
If you’re a) living in the UK; and b) don’t want to wait for the Galaxy S3 and would rather grab the Note instead – here’s a deal for you. Phone retailer Phones 4U is offering Sammy’s phablet (as in phone/tablet) for free on a 20.50 GBP/month plan. That’s right, you don’t have to shell out a single penny upfront and also don’t have to commit on expensive monthly contract.
That 20.50 GBP per month gives you 300 minutes, 3,000 texts and 250MB of data. Sure more data would be nice, but then again if you’re an average user, chances are you’re overestimating your mobile data needs due to fear of “bill shock.” What’s more, if you’re just a little careful and frequently use your Galaxy Note in Wi-Fi hotspots, you’re good to go. Heck, you can always jump to a more expensive plan if such a need
