Reuters: Nokia is burning money too fast and they might even default

Nokia had more than 10 billion Euros in their piggy bank in 2007, the year that the iPhone came out. Today that figure stands at less than half that. What’s most troubling is that Nokia lost 2.1 billion Euros during the past five quarters alone. If this rate of erosion continues, then things could get ugly. According to analysts who have spoken to Reuters, Nokia is at risk of running out of money in just two years. On average, the analysts that were polled say that Nokia will burn through an additional 2 billion Euros over the next three quarters. Only the most cynical believe that Nokia will default on their debt, but then again even the most negative commentators have been wrong in predicting just how bad things would get for the Finnish handset maker.

So say everything goes to hell in a handbasket, what next? Right

Video: 14 minutes and 45 seconds of pure Galaxy S III verus One X mayhem

Announced back in February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HTC’s One X has been out on the market for a little over a month now. Two weeks ago Samsung announced their 2012 flagship in London, the Galaxy S III, and it’ll be on store shelves in 12 days. Which one should you get? That’s an incredibly difficult question to answer since it’s highly subjective. Some might prefer the One X for the design, while others prefer having a removable battery and the microSD slot on the Galaxy S III. Some might actually want to use HTC Sense, while other people see Sense and then run to the nearest bathroom so they can purge themselves. What better way to compare these two magnificent creatures than by putting them head to head in a video that’s nearly 15 minutes long! Here’s what the folks at

Wall Street Journal: The next iPhone will have a screen that’s “at least” 4 inches big

Anything The Wall Street Journal reports regarding Apple rumors is usually true, so we’re excited that their latest piece says that the sixth generation iPhone will have a screen that’s “at least” 4 inches diagonal. Considering that the iPhone will turn 5 years old next month, and for all those years it’s stayed at 3.5 inches, it’s about time that these guys gave us some more room to breathe. Consider this: HTC’s 2012 flagship has a 4.7 inch screen. Samsung’s flagship this year has a 4.8 inch screen. Even Nokia’s Lumia 900 has a 4.3 inch screen!

Now the question that will occupy everyone’s minds for the next few months is just how big the next screen will be? If it’s “at least” 4 inches, that could mean anything really. We’ve heard rumors in the past saying the next iPhone will have a screen that’s exactly 4 inches

Voyager Mobile: An MVNO created by a 22 year old who hates his phone bill

John Mardini is just 22 years old, yet today he’s going to launch an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) called Voyager Mobile. What will set his service apart from the competition? He’s going to charge just $19 per month for unlimited talking and texting or $39 per month for unlimited talking, texting, and data. Why is he doing this? According to an interview done by AllThingsD, John said: “It was just one of those things. I pay so much for my cell phone. I was thinking there has to be a better way to make it cheaper for everyone.”

Is John some sort of amazing businessman who sees something that no one else does? No. John’s just one of the many people who has signed a deal with Sprint to resell their service. John will even resell their devices. His “start-up” was funded by his friends and family,

4G Americas says 4G means a minimum of HSPA+ 21 Mbps

When Sprint decided to label WiMAX technology as “4G”, it wasn’t that long until the other operators followed suite and slapped the 4G moniker on their respective networks. Sascha Segan from PC Mag recently had a chance to speak to Chris Pearson, the President of 4G Americas, and he asked him just what the hell 4G actually means according to the organization who is responsible for defining the standards that make our mobile devices work in the first place. Pearson’s response: “At 4G Americas, our typical line is HSPA+ 21 and above.” That would make Apple’s iPhone 4S, which to the surprise of many became a 4G enabled device with the release of iOS 5.1, technically a 3G device. It also means that vast swaths of Europe are already 4G enabled. Pearson then adds: “Consumers don’t really care. All they want is a mobile broadband experience.”
