Redbox and Verizon’s on-demand video streaming service is set to launch in the second half of 2012
Back in December, we first got wind about a possible partnership between Verizon and Redbox, where it was alleged that the two would combine their efforts in bringing to market a new kind of video streaming service that’s meant to rival Netflix. Previously, it was believed that the target launch date for the project would be May 28th, but it seems that we won’t be seeing it until sometime in the second half of 2012.
Settings their eyes on launching the on-demand video streaming service in the second half of the year, the undisclosed name of the new service is being pegged to use Big Red’s on-demand and download system. However, it’s uncertain right now as to exactly what kind of content will be offered.

Frequent teen and young adult texters are found to be more shallow, like totally
As if we need more reassurance about it all, but apparently it seems as though teenagers and young adults who frequently text message are found to be more focus on wealth and image, thus, embodying all of the qualities of someone being shallow.
Well, that’s according to a new study conducted by WebMD after they surveyed more than 2,200 college psychology class students regarding their texting frequency. University of Winnipeg associate professor of psychology, Paul Trapnell, said, “Heavy texters do seem to be a little more materialistic and less concerned about inward growth.” That’s hardly a surprise to some people out there, as they argue that connected media actually makes them more disconnected

Travel web site KAYAK gives the boot to its BlackBerry app
Ouch! Although it might not seem to be too much of a biggie for RIM, but it stings nonetheless to know that popular travel search web site KAYAK has dropped its BlackBerry app. Some of you might not be familiar with the name, but they’re essentially another competitor to other travel sites such as Hotels.com, Travelocity, Priceline, and Expedia. However, instead of offering deals of their own, they essentially provide customers with comparison rates from amongst the aforementioned names.
Giving the boot to its BlackBerry app, KAYAK cites that RIM’s exiting platform is “not working out to be a great channel for consumer mobile applications.” With its blog posting titled “We’re Very Sorry BlackBerry Users,” they specifically mention that the cost surrounding maintenance and support for its BlackBerry app was simply too much for them to handle.
As an alternative, KAYAK says that the mobile website works pretty snazzy on all smartphones
